my story

See my new Post  feature….COCKTAIL RECIPE!!Bottoms Up!

I’m so excited!  You know, I came here the same way I started ‘Night Flight’, a late night jazz/blues/funk show in Delmarva many years ago when my Program Director asked me to fill some time on a Sunday night.  I  was never an ‘on-air’ personality, but I had some of my mom’s vinyl jazz records from the 50’s and 60’s and some CD’s I loved… It was truly a ‘fly by the seat of my pants’ event but surprisingly popular.

turntable2One of the things I loved to do was to take a great song like  “unchain my heart” recorded in formula R&R style by Otis Williams  1960, segue into Ray Charles, with that sax weeping in the background, Ray-lettes doing their thing,  finishing up the set with Herbie Mann’s version.  Boom!

Then I would switch gears to heartbreak, pure and simple. UB40’s  reggae “Please don’t make me cry”, Jennifer Hudson “and I am telling you” from Dreamgirls And “Never thought you would leave me in summer”  Stevie Wonders ballad. By this time I am sobbing uncontrollably and can’t regain my composure to do the weather!!!

It was never about a genre, but an emotional journey.  It always was for me and I hope it is for the my readers/listeners.
